Latest guidance reviews the need for isolation for non-Hospital admissions
The Government has announced that admissions are of less risk if a person has been appropriately vaccinated and the person is being admitted from their own Home and not from another Care Home or Hospital setting.
Residents may be admitted to a care home from the community without needing to complete a 14-day self-isolation period, if they satisfy the requirements. Ask for details.

Updates from Southlands Place

New dementia friendly areas
At Southlands Place Care Home we understand that dementia can feel like another world. It can mean big changes to a person’s world as they know it, but some things never change. Like their story, who they matter to and who they are. So many things define us as individuals, but dementia doesn’t have to. We see the person behind it, and help them live the life they want, to the full.
The team at the home have been busy updating the dementia community to include various new areas and rooms for their residents to interact with.

Keeping things personal
At Southlands Place
The wonderful surroundings at Southlands Place are matched by the standard of care our team brings residents. We love learning as much as we can about the people we care for, so your loved one’s time is tailored to their individual needs, interests and preferences. This can be as small as knowing when they like to wake up, to how they like their tea, and everything in between.
We give as much independence as possible, letting individuals choose how to run the home and if they prefer dinner in front of the TV, or even dusting their own room, we’ll make it happen. Just as putting their own stamp on their bedroom, we’ll help them to personalise it with the things they love.
Every need catered for
Mealtimes are an important part of daily life at Southlands Place. We know eating well and the social experience of dining are key to health and wellbeing. Our chefs select a different menu each day, creating lots of home-cooked dishes with fresh ingredients to choose from. Using their in-depth knowledge of nutrition, they cater for any special diets and needs.
Keep doing what you love
At Southlands Place, there’s something to tickle everyone’s fancy – from the craft room to the hair salon, our schedule of events and activities, to picnics in the grounds. And if residents prefer to spend one-on-one time with a member of the team, they can read the paper, pop to the shops or have a pint in the local pub. We have strong connections with the Bexhill-on-Sea community, many of our residents invite them to join in our activities or even run their own here.
Fiona Yurteri
I am proud to have been promoted from Deputy Manager to Home Manager at Southlands Place.
As a registered general nurse, I started out my career at Hurstwood Park Neurological centre working in the intensive care unit specialising in brain trauma and injury, supporting patients with Neurological deficits. From there I transferred my skills into working with residents living with dementia. I have previously managed Nursing Homes and supported the needs of a diverse range of residents.
As Home Manager it is important to me that our residents receive the care and respect that they deserve and that they see this as their home and family. Everyday myself and my team want to make a difference to our resident’s lives, seeing a smile on their face and laughing makes everything worthwhile.
I have an amazing team around me and is It is important to me that my team are supported in their roles to assist our residents, as well as giving them the opportunity to develop and learn new skills as this is what has helped me throughout my career. We are all passionate and committed to making Southlands Place a home for all.
I have lived in the local area for over 25 years and my favourite aspect is the sea front as well as the close community spirit, including the strong relationships that our home has with the local community. Outside of work I enjoy running and reading, as well as walking my dogs and spending time with my family and friends.

The types of care we provide
Living well with Dementia
We are proud to be the only care home group to have our own unique award-winning dementia training ‘My World’ which is accredited by City and Guilds. It highlights the importance of meaningful activities and a stimulating environment for people living with dementia, in addition to addressing clinical aspects of care.
Where care and comfort combine
Our overriding design philosophy is to provide a home that ensure residents have the highest quality of life and this is achieved through four key elements – care, light, the environment and the continuous interaction between external and internal spaces.
