Marilyn is a qualified Nurse with a background in care of the elderly, working around the world in a variety of care home settings including China, Taiwan and the Philippines. Marilyn has also spent time teaching and lecturing as well as training members of staff here in the UK and abroad. She previously worked at other Caring Homes’ locations, Huntercombe Hall, Hulcott and Abbeycrest. She is very proud of her accomplishments, especially her efforts to build strong local community links to assure long term occupancy levels are maintained.
As Manager, Marilyn enjoys the variety of each day and always takes great pleasure from time spent talking to residents and relatives. She particularly loves the reward of seeing a resident respond positively to the care and comfort provided by her staff at the home.
Marilyn is a strong advocate of investing in her local community and regularly sends money back to an education project in her native home town in the Philippines.
The project sponsors underprivileged school children to achieve secondary education qualifications, thus enabling them to have better life prospects.
Supporting and developing the team around her is also something that is important, as this enhances the residents lives and drives outstanding care so they can have the most fulfilled lives possible.
I enjoy all aspects of managing a care home and work continually to maintain all aspects of care to the highest standards, while supporting my staff in line with the Caring Homes ethos.
