 About the home

Our stunning new Ware care home is built to the latest care standards. Living here is all about luxury, comfort and choice.

As soon as you set foot inside Riverside Place, you’ll be impressed by the light, space and quality of the home. There are many different enticing spaces to relax in – from the bistro and orangery on the ground floor, to the quiet lounges dotted around the home. We understand that residents like to continue to look their best, so our hair salon is open regularly for beauty treatments and pamper sessions.

Each of the 72 bedrooms at Riverside Place is beautifully furnished and has en-suite facilities. Your loved one is also welcome to decorate it with their own treasured items, pictures and pieces of furniture if they wish.

Keeping well

All bedrooms have a nurse call system, giving you the peace of mind that care and nursing colleagues are only seconds away, day and night. Our care and nursing teams also work closely with local healthcare professionals, from GPs to physiotherapists and occupational therapists, and we’ll happily arrange any other appointments that your loved one needs.

Getting out and about

Riverside Place is walking distance into Ware town centre, with its priory, gardens and museum. Those residents who are able, are welcome to pop into town to do some shopping or enjoy lunch in a pub or café. We’re also planning to get out and about as often as we can to explore the local nature reserves and wildlife parks, to go boating on the river or even head into London for a theatre trip.

Ours is a very new home, so, right now, our enthusiastic team are throwing themselves into forging links with the local community, much as we threw ourselves in winning the Ware Open Raft Race this summer! We’re looking forward to organising regular activities with local schools, churches and charities.

Daily life

At Riverside Place, each day is full of fun and fulfilling experiences. Your loved one decides how they want to spend their day, and we help to make it happen.  We have a dedicated Wellbeing Coordinator whose job it is to plan and organise rewarding and enjoyable activities, outings and entertainment, all based around residents’ interests.

Activities for everyone

So, whether you want to do a gentle exercise class, an art session, you like to get up close to exotic animals, love a competitive quiz or baking up a storm, we’ll make it part of our activities programme.

Music and singing are always popular with residents, and we’re forging links with local entertainers – singers, dancers and musicians – who will visit the home to perform for us. School children who want to practise their performing skills are always welcome, and we love seeing volunteers of all ages who would like to help with activities or simply spend time chatting one-to-one with residents.  Residents with green fingers can help us to keep the gardens and outdoor spaces looking wonderful. In short, if your loved one has a particular interest, we’ll set up an activity or group – they can even lead it if they wish.  We incorporate national events into our activities too. We love any excuse to have a party and decorate the home, whether it’s for Burns Night, a royal wedding or Halloween.

Freedom and choice are key

We don’t believe in making residents do an activity if they don’t want to. If your loved one enjoys reading the paper, doing a jigsaw or staying in their room, that’s fine by us. We’ll respect their choices and support them however we can.

Meal times are a social event at Riverside Place, where residents enjoy delicious food in beautiful surroundings.

We employ some of the best care home chefs – people who are committed to enhancing your loved one’s health and wellbeing by producing delicious and nutritious meals tailored to their dietary needs and tastes.

Menus tailored to your loved one

Our head chef works closely with the Riverside Place clinical and care teams and is kept informed of residents’ nutritional needs. They can cater for specialist dietary needs, including soft and fortified diets.

Menus change regularly and include a variety of hot and cold dishes. We also reflect residents’ suggestions into our menu plans, so if there’s something your loved one would especially like to sample, let us know.

Restaurant-style surroundings

Riverside Place has beautiful dining rooms, laid out with small tables as in a restaurant. To create a sense of occasion, tables are beautifully laid with crisp table linen and shining glassware. If your loved one would like a glass of wine with their meal, they just need to let us know.

Residents are free to eat in their room if they prefer, and if they find they’re peckish between meals, there are always snacks and drinks available.

Manager's Profile

As the Manager of Riverside Place, Ware, a new care home for 72 elderly residents due to open October 2018, my focus will be on providing a warm and loving environment for people coming to live with us.

With over 20 years in the care sector I will be proud to lead my professional Care Team in delivering the highest level of care and support for our residents. Beginning my career as a support worker for people with learning difficulties and mental health needs, I then moved into elderly care working as a Training Manager, Peripatetic Manager and subsequently a Home Manager.

I am extremely passionate about those living within our homes being consulted and involved in every aspect of their care. To support this we have recruited and trained wonderful colleagues who will seize every opportunity to get to know residents, relatives and friends and to meet residents’ particular needs well.

My commitment to professional development has equipped me well for my role here, where I work hard to ensure that those in my care lead happy and fulfilling lives, whilst maintaining choice over the care and support they receive. I promote an open-door policy encouraging residents, their families and my colleagues to approach me on any matter.

Caring Homes values match well with my own and I am totally committed to ensuring that residents receive the high levels of care, respect and protection they deserve. As a people person, what drives me and makes my job worthwhile, is the opportunity to make a positive impact in residents’ lives and their families’ lives. I believe by developing strong relationships with residents and their relatives, this makes to the successful running of a care home.
