As the Home Manager at Hulcott Nursing Home, I lead a professional team in providing the highest standards of residential and nursing care for up to 38 elderly residents.
I qualified as a nurse in 1993 and began my care career working across various specialisms before moving into the care home sector in 1997, where I found myself well suited to my role and developed a love for elderly care.
I find it incredibly satisfying getting to know each of my residents and their families and love knowing I’ve made a positive difference to their lives. My residents are the reason I do the job I do. Their comfort, safety and care are my highest priority. Our home is their home and their views and opinions are very important to me.
I bring a wealth of understanding and knowledge to my role. As a nurse who has moved into a management role, I am able to be ‘hands on’ when needed and can offer advice, experience and guidance to the nurses working in my team.
One of the most rewarding aspects of my role is improving lives by supporting residents and their families. Every resident we care for has a history and a story to tell, and learning about their lives is a wonderful privilege.
Supporting and developing the team around me is also very important to me, as this enhances our residents’ lives and drives outstanding care.
