Message from our Chairman

Dear Relative

Re: Message from the Chairman of Caring Homes Group

I hope you will forgive me that this is a letter addressed to everyone, rather than a personal letter to you alone. In the present circumstances, I hope you will understand.

Our paramount objective, in this time of pandemic, is to care for the Residents of our Homes, to keep them and our staff who care for them safe and well.

We face many challenges; supplies of Personal Protection Equipment are not always available; testing facilities for staff and residents are not yet provided by Government. We are assured that these problems are being addressed, but in the meantime we have introduced stringent measures to ensure that residents are protected from any risk of virus imported into the Home. This has meant imposing severe limitations on visits to residents by their near and dear; staff who are experiencing symptoms or are exposed to risk of infection are kept strictly away from the Homes. The inevitable absences of nurses, carers and support staff place additional burdens on their colleagues who are able to keep
working. For the time being, we are making an exception to allow the close relative of a resident whose life is coming close to its end to enter the Home for a one-to-one visit.

We are doing all we can to improve your links with your loved one in the Home; we understand how important you are to their well-being and their quality of life. When you call the main Home telephone number, staff will gladly give you news of your relative. The Home has an iPad equipped for video calls; a smart phone in the Home is dedicated to your calls to your relative by Skype or simply voice. Ask the Home, and we will make sure you have the number.

It is of vital importance to keep a strong sense of calm purpose among us all. Our single-minded aim is to support our residents, to support you as their closest friends and relatives, and to support our brave, dedicated staff. You are all in our hearts as we work with all our might and main to keep everyone unharmed and secure in this global crisis.

You and your family members are central to all that we do. We ask for your patience and understanding in this time of isolation and loneliness. With your help, we have faith that we can limit the effects of the virus.

On behalf of all of us at Caring Homes, I wish you safe and well.

Michael Medlicott

Chairman of the Board
