We do like to be beside the seaside … at Magna

This week at Magna nursing home in Wimborne we held a seaside themed day and were blessed with a really sunny day which set it off nicely.

Our very talented Becky, one of our health and wellbeing coordinators, drew and painted an old fashioned seaside photo booth and a surround for our TV through which we played a Punch and Judy show.

We had cornets to eat, peppermint rock and candy floss to try and several props to aid memories.

We also played sounds of the sea through our speaker and got everyone to shut their eyes, listen then share their memories of childhood holidays with us. We heard stories about Rhyl, Blackpool, Margate and Swanage to name a few.

Doris told us of trips in a charabang and knitted swimsuits which stretched in the water. Other things which were mentioned were picnics, donkey rides and fish and chips in news paper.

Our lovely chef Joe put on Hot Dogs, Fishfingers and Prawn salads for lunch to carry on with the ‘holiday’ feel. A grand time was had by all.

The Magna nursing home in Wimborne is a stunning Care Centre providing residential and specialist nursing care for up to 63 elderly residents.

Coronavirus (COVID-19) Update
To Whom it may concern,

RE: A message from the CEO and Clinical Director

At Caring Homes we are following the latest Government advice and stopping visitors to all our homes, except for essential visits by healthcare professionals who will be required to adhere to strict protocols.

We understand that this may be very difficult for families but we are clear in our duty to ensure we protect the health, safety and wellbeing of our Residents and Colleagues as our top priority.

We want you to know that you can contact your loved ones through calls, emails, video and social media and we will support our Residents to view any messages you send over. We are confident that the teams in our homes are doing all they can to ensure that life remains as comfortable and sociable as possible. There will be a full programme of activities delivered by our in-house health and wellbeing teams.

We hope you will understand and support these actions and any further subsequent measures we might need to put in place.

Yours sincerely
