Triple Word Score at Mill House’s Scrabble Game

Mill House residents recently scored lots of points when they took part in a Scrabble game at our home in Chipping Campden.

As one of our carers, Andrea Rochford understands how important and meaningful activities can be to people lives, especially when they live in a care home.  So on a cold and miserable November afternoon in the Cotswolds, and following discussion as to what they could enjoy together, she spent time with some of our lady residents when they all took part in a friendly board game of scrabble.

Molly, Kath and Phoebe really enjoyed playing the word game with her. They were very engaged in the activity and the time spent with Andrea was priceless. The ladies all worked really well, set the letters and there was also a lot of laughter and jokes. Especially with some of the letter combinations so we had a dictionary with us just to check on some of the words suggested.

We also all enjoyed a nice warming hot drink during the game and some delicious homemade cake baked by one of our Chefs.

As the ladies enjoyed it so much, this has now become a regular part of our schedule of activities at our home and it was great to see members of our team having fun with the residents!

Kim Mulford, Home Manager said:

“Board games are a great way of getting our residents together and it is not only fun but really beneficial. At Mill House, we already know that games not only provide positive and social entertainment but also that by challenging your brain with mentally stimulating leisure activities (including playing board games) it’s an incredibly good activity for their mental and physical health and wellbeing too.”
