Tree Planted To Mark Apprenticeship Achievement of Brooklyn House Senior Carer, Holly
We love to celebrate the achievements of our team members and this took on a whole new meaning when Brooklyn House Care Home hosted a very special presentation with training provider, Impact Futures.
Roots for Achievers Brought to Life
‘Roots for Achievers’ is a collaboration between Impact Futures and their sister companies (The Childcare Company and FRFA – First Response First Aid) and Woodland Trust, with its mission to plant one tree for every learner who completes their training in 2025. When Brooklyn House Senior Carer, Holly Jarvis, recently completed her Level 3 apprenticeship in care, it gave Impact Futures the perfect opportunity to bring their Roots for Achievers initiative to life at Caring Homes.
A date was set and after consulting with the Home Manager, Ros, it was decided that an aspen would be perfect for the garden. Known for its beautiful shimmering leaves, the aspen is not only visually lovely but also attracts a wide variety of insects which provide food for birds and ladybirds.
Family of Carers Keep Celebration a Secret
Meanwhile, news of the planned tree planting celebration was shared with Debbie and Brittany, Holly’s mum and identical twin sister who both work at Brooklyn House in Attleborough, Norfolk. Brittany joined the care team in 2015 at the same time as Holly while Debbie, who had been employed as a Domestic Assistant since 2005, became a Care Assistant in August 2015, working alongside her 2 daughters!
Holly was promoted to Senior Care Assistant just as she was finishing her apprenticeship and Ros is full of praise for her work and progress, adding, “Holly has been a wonderful carer and is now a very capable Senior, eager to learn and develop herself in her new role. She goes above and beyond and nothing is too much trouble as she puts our residents at the forefront of all that she does”.
A Happy Event Shared with the Whole Team
Debbie and Brittany kept news of the event top secret so it would be a surprise for Holly – which it was – and everything went smoothly. The sun shone as the team gathered round to mark the special occasion and watched as Holly helped plant five little aspen seedlings using a specially engraved trowel, followed by a celebration cake for all to share.
Holly was really touched by having a tree planted to mark her achievement, adding, “This is such a lovely initiative and I’m proud that trees have been planted because I completed my apprenticeship. It really means a lot and I look forward to seeing them grow”.
Sarah Frost, Development Coach from Impact futures said: “Our tree-planting initiative is well underway, with a commitment to plant 2,900 trees in 2025. Not only will it help the environment, but it’s also a wonderful way to celebrate the accomplishments of our incredible apprentices and trainees. We were delighted to mark Holly’s success at Brooklyn House by planting a beautiful aspen tree and celebrating with the staff and residents”.
Meanwhile, the Jarvis family will all be celebrating 10 years as part of the care team at Brooklyn House in August this year – an achievement that merits an orchard of its own!
