Library Trip

Guysfield residential home went on their monthly trip, this time we visited the local library in Letchworth, which was a great success.

We were warmly welcomed by ever so kind staff working at the library who organised for us fun and interesting activities .One of them was poetry read aloud and we all joined in with reciting. We also talked about the library, books, Letchworth town and how it has changed over the years. We were provided with pictures and books on Letchworth and Hertfordshire area and that became the basis for our conversation and reminiscing. One of our residents was able to see her father’s diary shop in one of the books which she was really proudly talking about and how then she became an owner.

All residents and relatives were reminiscing and sharing their experiences while having a cup of tea and biscuits. We had a tour of the library and residents were assisted in choosing the books to take on loan. Some of them were talking books and some with a larger print.

We had finished the visit with singalong and more poetry read aloud chosen by the residents. We were also invited to future events held by the library. The residents and relatives expressed how much they enjoyed the trip. One of the residents commented

“It was a lovely break from the daily routine, it lifted my spirit”

Coronavirus (COVID-19) Update
To Whom it may concern,

RE: A message from the CEO and Clinical Director

At Caring Homes we are following the latest Government advice and stopping visitors to all our homes, except for essential visits by healthcare professionals who will be required to adhere to strict protocols.

We understand that this may be very difficult for families but we are clear in our duty to ensure we protect the health, safety and wellbeing of our Residents and Colleagues as our top priority.

We want you to know that you can contact your loved ones through calls, emails, video and social media and we will support our Residents to view any messages you send over. We are confident that the teams in our homes are doing all they can to ensure that life remains as comfortable and sociable as possible. There will be a full programme of activities delivered by our in-house health and wellbeing teams.

We hope you will understand and support these actions and any further subsequent measures we might need to put in place.

Yours sincerely

Paul Jeffery – Chief Executive Officer

Frank Cummins – Clinical Director
