Kung Hei Fat Choy from Magna

The residents and care team at Magna Care Centre in Wimborne enjoyed a special day celebrating the year of the Pig!

Kung Hei Fat Choy mean happy new year in Chinese, and we embraced as much Chinese culture as possible on 5th February at Magna. Residents were invited to the communal lounge area where they could toast in the new year with Sherry or Advocat.

Everyone enjoyed fun facts and quizzes based around Chinese New Year tradition. Who knew that females born on the year of the pig are traditionally expected to wear red underwear for the rest of the year!!!!! On the build up to our celebration one of our residents Doreen helped us build our very own paper mache pinata. It took us 3 very gluey days in total, yet the residents had a lot of fun destroying it within 5 minutes! It was filled with sweets and glitter, thankfully housekeeping were on standby!

We also made a giant pig using tonnes of glue and tissue paper, this was done in a group we had a lot of fun doing this and we thoroughly enjoyed the end result!

After all over our morning activities all of our residents were invited to the restaurant with the activities staff in tow to enjoy a tasty Chinese meal. Accompanied with prawn crackers, Chinese soup, and banana fritters.

We look forward to the year of the Rat in January next year!

Coronavirus (COVID-19) Update
To Whom it may concern,

RE: A message from the CEO and Clinical Director

At Caring Homes we are following the latest Government advice and stopping visitors to all our homes, except for essential visits by healthcare professionals who will be required to adhere to strict protocols.

We understand that this may be very difficult for families but we are clear in our duty to ensure we protect the health, safety and wellbeing of our Residents and Colleagues as our top priority.

We want you to know that you can contact your loved ones through calls, emails, video and social media and we will support our Residents to view any messages you send over. We are confident that the teams in our homes are doing all they can to ensure that life remains as comfortable and sociable as possible. There will be a full programme of activities delivered by our in-house health and wellbeing teams.

We hope you will understand and support these actions and any further subsequent measures we might need to put in place.

Yours sincerely
