Jennys Arc visits Cotman House

5th September 2016
The residents at Cotman House and Lodge in Felixstowe, were visited by Jenny's Arc this week with a variety of furry, and not so furry visitors.Animals can be therapeutic for the elderly, they provide affection, bonds and good feeling without anyone really being aware of the good being done. Moods and morale can both be lifted. They also help with social interaction, some residents may prefer not to interact with others, but animals bring them out of their room and help reduce any feelings of social isolation. There were lots of "Ooh’s", "Ahh’s" and "Oh’s" as the animals were taken out and given to the residents to hold. There were cute rabbits and guinea pigs which were fed and brushed by many of the residents of Cotman House & Lodge, helping to fill their sense of nurturing and caring. Other animals included Leopold Geckos, Tortoises and a large variety of snakes!!All the snakes were admired, everyone thought they were beautiful, even though some didn't want to touch them, but we did have a couple of very brave residents! One snake almost disappeared up Joyce's sleeve!!!Jenny's Arc was a huge success and we look forward to welcoming them back soon![gallery columns="2" size="medium" ids="14750,14752"][gallery size="medium" ids="14755,14753,14756,14751,14754"]
