Horsell Lodge Promotes Independence With Weekly Community Outings

30th January 2024

Starting something new in the new year, Horsell Lodge has been offering weekly trips to different places within our local community to encourage independent living.

The independence and wellbeing of our residents are a priority for everyone at Horsell Lodge as we encourage trips for grocery shopping, visits to local garden centres, and strolls around the village for a cup of tea and conversation.

Weekly Outdoor Activities

In its first month, we have witnessed residents actively participating in selecting ingredients for desserts, procuring winter thermals, and gleefully exploring confectionery aisles. The accessibility of the local dial-a-ride service, Bustler, has played a crucial role in making these outings inclusive, ensuring every resident can partake in these community experiences. Bustler efficiently picks residents up from outside the doorsteps of the home and return with ample space to accommodate their bags.

Jean, a resident at Horsell said, "It has been so lovely to choose the fresh fruit for my fruit salad myself".

Overall, residents have conveyed gratitude for the opportunity to engage with the local community, emphasising the social benefits from these outings. Horsell Lodge's commitment to fostering independence and community connection shines brightly through this programme.
