Gardening club at Hillside
Residents at Hillside Care Home in Sudbury meet fortnightly to chat about all things green-fingered over a cup of tea.
Some of the club's recent projects have included upcycling old pots and planters using beautiful bedding plants and replanting hanging baskets for our outside spaces. We are also planning to paint stencils on the pots of our sunflowers to highlight the bright colours of summer.
The club members have also enjoyed planting and tending tomato plants and sunflowers. We have a competition to see which resident's sunflower will grow to be the tallest.
Gardening has been a sensory, social and emotional experience for the Gardening Club members, and they really enjoy seeing their hard work on display, makingthe home look beautiful.
Some of our members have taken such pride in their efforts, which has been a fantastic boost to their self-esteem.
