Dementia Awareness Week 2022 at The Orchard

25th May 2022

Dementia awareness week happens every year and aims to raise awareness of dementia and help improve the lives of those living with dementia and their families and carers. This year, residents at The Orchard got the opportunity to get involved in Dementia Awareness Week at The St Albans Museum and Gallery, who kindly featured their collaborative artwork project, aptly named "Forget Me Nots" this got the community involved and aims to get viewers talking about the impact of dementia.

Residents were taken to see their artwork displayed in the museum and gallery and got to take pride in their achievement with tea and cake. The residents were so happy and proud to see the art work they had contributed to, with their own fingers prints displayed for everyone to see.

A lady called Preet who set up St Albans Rainbow Trail approached the home for our residents to get involved. St Albans Rainbow Trail is to unite the community of St Albans City & District and surrounding areas through creativity initiatives, just like this one.
