Day trip out for Guysfield Residents

A group of 5 residents, 2 staff and 2 residents’ relatives from Guysfield Residential Home went out on a memorable trip to Wyevale Garden Centre. The residents were really excited leading up to the day and discussed memories of previous visits to garden centres before coming to Guysfield.

Everyone got wrapped up nicely to stay comfortable and cosy and we saw the first snow of the winter so far! There was lots of laughter, chatting and even singing on the bus journey by everyone.

When we first arrived, we began strolling around the garden and admiring beautiful plants. When we went indoors there were still January sales on and a few residents were assisted in purchasing items they really liked.

After having a lovely walk we went to the restaurant for an afternoon tea. Everyone had a warm beverage and a slice of cake of the individual’s choice and a great day was had by all.

All residents commented about how much they enjoy going out. It was a great chance to build friendships and we received positive feedback from families who kindly volunteered for the day. It was such a success that we are already planning the next trip for February.

At Guysfield Residential Home in Letchworth we provide residential and dementia care for up to 49 elderly people. You can find us in the beautiful conservation village of Willian, just south of Letchworth Garden City, in Hertfordshire.
