A busy August at Marchglen

It has been a busy month at Marchglen in  Fishcross, with various activities and trips out and about. We always try our best to accommodate to the needs of our residents and it is important to us that they inform us on what it is they would like to do.

One of our residents Grace has been asking to go to The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo. It was her wish for the year and that wish was granted when she went along with Helen who is a member of our team.  The tattoo is a global gathering, which showcases the talents of musicians and performers from every corner of the globe. Both of our ladies had a wonderful time and very much enjoyed their day out. Helen said “it was brilliant, I am glad I got the chance to go”.

Rab who is a respite resident and Elizabeth had a lovely day out with Christine, one of our carers to The outside Inn in Larbert and then to Edinburgh Butterfly World recently. Rab and Elizabeth had never been before and were keen to go and see all of the Butterflies. Both Rab and Elizabeth had a really lovely day out with Christine and came back to Marchglen with lots to share with the other residents.

Ensuring that our residents are well cared for and their needs are met is extremely important to us. Over the past few months we have been spending some time with a resident who finds socialising and coping on community outings slightly challenging. We have been trying boost his confidence and get him out and about with our other residents. Working with our resident Pat is certainly starting to pay off and we have seen a significant difference in him. It has fantastic to see Pat coming out of his shell and doing the things that he is normally used to doing. He is interacting with other residents and the team and really enjoying being out again.

We are most definitely looking forward to another busy month of fun filled activities next month.

Marchglen provides nursing care in a purpose built environment for up to 36 people in four small homes within the grounds. Each home provides different types of care and support including physical disabilities, learning disabilities and challenging behaviours in both young adults and elderly.
