Burns Night at Sanford House

Residents and the care team at Sandford House in Dereham celebrated Burns Night a day early this year. Residents enjoyed a very Scottish themed lunch consisting of Haggis or Beef and Guinness stew, followed by a Scottish trifle for dessert, which contains Whiskey instead of Sherry. Later in the afternoon residents were entertained by local Bagpiper Roger Bayes, who toured the home playing in rooms and lounges throughout the home which is laid out as a one storey quadrangle set around an attractive sensory garden.

Over recent years there has been a growing understanding of the impact that taking part in arts and music can have on people’s health and wellbeing. At Sandford House there is always something going on connected with arts, music and the community and the bagpipes certainly got people up and moving!

At Sandford House we provide nursing and nursing dementia care for up to 40 elderly people and were rated ‘Good’ in our latest CQC report. We continuously improve the lives of our residents through offering wide ranging activities and events both in and outside of the home, involving members of the local community as often as possible.

Coronavirus (COVID-19) Update
To Whom it may concern,

RE: A message from the CEO and Clinical Director

At Caring Homes we are following the latest Government advice and stopping visitors to all our homes, except for essential visits by healthcare professionals who will be required to adhere to strict protocols.

We understand that this may be very difficult for families but we are clear in our duty to ensure we protect the health, safety and wellbeing of our Residents and Colleagues as our top priority.

We want you to know that you can contact your loved ones through calls, emails, video and social media and we will support our Residents to view any messages you send over. We are confident that the teams in our homes are doing all they can to ensure that life remains as comfortable and sociable as possible. There will be a full programme of activities delivered by our in-house health and wellbeing teams.

We hope you will understand and support these actions and any further subsequent measures we might need to put in place.

Yours sincerely
