A Poignant Trip To Conwy

June Hughes, a Rectory House resident recently undertook a long and poignant journey to North Wales in fulfilling a long-held promise to her late husband.

June lost her husband, Elwyn, whilst living together at Rectory House and after attending the funeral with her family and a number of the staff members, she wanted to carry out a promise that she made to her late husband and scatter his ashes overlooking the town that he grew up in; Conwy, North Wales.

June pushed herself for many months to get to the stage of walking with a stick, to enable her to make the trip. Knowing how much this meant to June, Home Manager Jackie Cox took time off work to accompany and support June on the 600 mile round trip from West Sussex to Conwy.

Having spent the night in a nearby hotel, June and Jackie met her late husband’s brother, who gave them a guided tour of the town, reliving many happy memories.

Elwyn’s brother then took them up into the hills where June was able to at long last fulfil her late husband’s wish and lay him to rest in a spot overlooking the town where he had enjoyed many a day playing during his childhood.
