Latest visitor guidance for England
23rd July 2021
Late on afternoon of the 16th July 2021, we received from the Department of Health new guidance on Care Home visiting. We had been in conversation with the Department of Health the day previously and so had some idea as to what changes were being made to the guidelines which were in place. Changes to Care Home visiting guidance was sent out to all Care Homes in England to coincide with the lifting of key restrictions on the 19th July 2021.
The new guidance in relation to Care Home visiting can be read by following this link;
To sum up the guidance for you, it basically means that in our Care Homes;
- PPE including a mask will still need to be used
- LFD Testing will still need to take place
- Visits will still need to be structured and booked in advance
- Only two visitors for each residents may attend at a time
- Should there be an outbreak status at a Home, we would need to temporarily suspend visits and would also need to suspend visits if instructed to do so by Public Health
As you will be aware, we have always tried to allow visits at our Homes when able to do so and we have continually ensured that the safety and wellbeing of residents and staff is our number one priority. Whilst we totally understand the hope that everyone has in wanting things to get back to normal, we continue need to balance risks and be cautious about the next steps we take in our Care Homes, particularly in relation to visiting given increasing infection rates in the community. At the same time, we need to follow key guidance issued by government bodies.
We continue to work closely with the Department of Health and Public Health and continue to monitor local and national infection rates. As government guidance changes, we will ensure that our own internal guidance is changed and reviewed accordingly.
As soon as there are any further changes to visiting policies, we will let you know promptly.
Please contact the Home Manager at your local care home if you have any questions or need any further information.
