As the Home Manager, I am a qualified nurse which enables me to ensure the effective delivery of high quality holistic person-centred care in a safe environment. I lead by example, creating a culture of continuous learning and development for my team, they are encouraged and valued ensuring all aspects of care can be maintained to the highest standards.
I have been working in the care industry all my working life beginning my career as a care assistant in the NHS in a local Elderly Care ward. I then developed and completed my Adult nurse training and worked on Intensive Care for nearly 10 years.
In 2011 I took a new direction, taking a position as a Deputy Manager in a new commission in the private sector. This was very exciting, seeing the home grow with a fantastic team of nurses’ and care team, soon being promoted to Home Manager.
I enjoy all aspects of my job, although there are many challenges on a day to day basis. Working with a team who provide high standards of person centred care to residents to ensure they have a fulfilled, engaged and happy environment to live always makes me happy.
Building relationships and working with professionals, internally and externally is important to the residents at our home in order to keep them in contact with the local community and provide the level of care they deserve. I continue to learn and develop and no day is ever the same which makes everything so worthwhile.
I really enjoy travelling with my husband and have been lucky to visit many beautiful places, including Australia, Croatia, Cyprus, Verona and many more. In my personal life a real sense of achievement is the success of my two sons, one lives locally and the other has moved to Australia, providing me with a great reason to visit the beautiful Country. I look forward to sharing these experiences with residents and along with my passion for crafts.
