Our commitment to care
As the Home Manager at Dormy House, I lead my professional Care Team in providing the highest standards of personalised care – in every instance designed to meet the unique needs of each person we support – including long-term care, trial stays, short-stay, convalescent and day care.
Specialist dementia care
We’ve extended our services and are pleased to announce that we are now able to care for more residents who are living with dementia.
The Surrey is our modern, purpose-built extension that provides dedicated dementia care. It has been designed to meet the University of Stirling’s high standards, which are widely acknowledged as providing the best living environment for people with dementia.
The Wentworth houses our Palliative Dementia Suite of six en-suite bedrooms on the first floor. At Dormy House we work to the nationally accredited Gold Standard Framework in palliative care, ensuring the highest level of nursing expertise during a person’s last days. This enables our residents to remain at Dormy House, rather than having to move to a hospital or hospice.
Why choose Dormy House?
Dormy House provides outstanding hospitality services. We strive to maintain the highest standards of service and always look to go the extra mile. Our residents have a choice of en-suite single rooms, or companion rooms, and fine dining is provided by our in-house chefs. We also offer a hair salon, dry cleaning service and weekly chiropody clinics.
How we ensure the wellbeing of our residents
At Dormy House we work hard to always ensure residents’ needs are at the forefront of everything we do. Our compassionate Care Team is committed to providing high-quality and person-centred care for all of the residents in our home and we never lose sight of the fact that, first and foremost, Dormy House is our residents’ home. Our home is spacious and bright, with a friendly and welcoming atmosphere and we always encourage residents to bring important personal possessions to personalise their rooms and make the space their own.
Our professional care team work closely with residents to ensure everyone who wishes to, can be involved in the day to day activities at the home. We have a dedicated Activities Coordinator who ensures a varied and stimulating programme from keep-fit classes, creative activities to day trips, are available to residents every day.
We appreciate the positive impact that family involvement can have in a care setting and we welcome active involvement and feedback from family members and friends.
We operate an open visiting policy at Dormy House, where friends and family may visit at the times which are most convenient for them.
The local area
Located in one of the most sought-after residential areas in Sunningdale, Dormy House is next to the world renowned golf course and our rooms enjoy views over the Ladies’ Course.
Residential care offers housing for those living independently who wish to reside in an environment with other people as companions and friends. Support is on hand if required, but personal care is not a constant need.
Dementia care is provided in both residential and nursing care settings. Dementia carers and nurses are trained to offer this specialist type of care and ensure that all care needs are met in either setting.
Accommodation with appropriate levels of care support based on a person’s physical and emotional needs. Rooms may be fully decorated by the resident with some small furniture items brought in to personalise the room.
Temporary accommodation with appropriate levels of care support based on a person’s physical and emotional needs. Duration ranges from one week to several months, whereby the resident intends to return home.
Indoor light is measured carefully to provide maximum benefit for residents. Natural daylight maintains a healthy circadian rhythm, increases production of Vitamin D and reduces symptoms of Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD).
