About the home

When you visit our beautiful care home, you’ll notice the welcoming and happy atmosphere. Each of the bedrooms at Dormy House is lovingly furnished and has en-suite facilities with some overlooking ‘The Heath’, the Ladies’ Golf Course of Sunningdale Golf Club.

Relax in luxurious surroundings

The home has comfortable lounges and shared spaces that are perfect for relaxing, catching up with visitors or enjoying activities. As well as a hair salon there is a conservatory where your loved one can help themselves to freshly brewed tea or coffee and homemade cakes. Our beautiful gardens are ideal for a stroll or sitting and watching the wildlife.

At the heart of Sunningdale

The centre of Sunningdale is close by, members of local groups are often popping in to chat to residents, give talks or performances, we even run a weekly toddler group, and our team works closely with local healthcare professionals to ensure your loved one always feels their best.

Daily life

The team at Dormy House will get to know your loved one well so they can anticipate their needs and help them to enjoy each day to the full.

Moving into a care home is just another part of a person’s life – that’s how we see it. So your loved one should still be able to enjoy interests and hobbies as well as quality time with you, their family. Moving somewhere new is also a chance to make new friends, and many residents do exactly that when they move to our Berkshire care home.

Wellbeing and lifestyle

Our dedicated Wellbeing Team will plan a weekly programme of activities to suit your loved one’s needs and interests. Activities range from arts and crafts to quizzes and music and exercise sessions. You’re also welcome to visit your loved one whenever you wish, and take them out for day trips.

We also have regular visits from a therapy dog, which everyone looks forward to. Representatives from local churches also come along to hold services and chat to residents.

Hospitality

In our latest CQC report, residents and relatives commented that ‘the cooks are brilliant’, and praised the talents of our chef-led catering team.

The Dormy House catering team is committed to learning about your loved one’s food preferences and dietary needs so they can tailor the menus accordingly. We happily cater for different dietary requirements, whether your loved one needs a soft diet or a fortified one. We use the latest catering technologies to ensure that texture-modified foods look and taste appealing, and our chef works closely with the clinical and care teams to keep updated with residents’ changing nutritional needs.

We ensure meal times are a relaxed, enjoyable experience. Friends get together to chat about their day in a social setting. We will support your loved one to eat independently, but will always provide one-to-one support if it’s needed.

Our dining rooms are arranged in a restaurant-style, with small tables beautifully laid with crisp linen and glassware. However, your loved one is welcome to eat in their room if they prefer.

We understand that appetites can vary in later life, so we will make snacks and drinks for them at any time.

Living in My World

Dormy House is part of Caring Homes, an established, family-run care company. We’ve been providing care for over 25 years. Every team member receives our unique ‘Living in My World’ dementia training which is accredited by City and Guilds. It highlights the importance of meaningful activities and a stimulating environment for people living with dementia, as well as addressing clinical aspects of care.

Our ‘Food in My World’ training, also accredited by City and Guilds provides our hospitality team and chefs with the skills and knowledge to stimulate senses and increase creativity in the cooking and presentation of food. This can provide a much improved dining experience for residents living with dementia and or dysphagia.
