Brook House

Towcester, Northamptonshire

We are now taking bookings for private appointments to view Brook House when our marketing suite opens on 1st July.

We have  updated our ways of working to give you the same great experience but keep everyone safe.  You can see the home in person or if you prefer, have a virtual tour via video link.

For everyone’s safety, we will ask you about your immediate care needs.  This is to make sure that only those who are looking for care, are given priority to come and meet us and look around.

If you are looking for care in the future or just want to see our interior design and layout, we can provide this without you having to visit us at this time.

Our team are on hand to answer all your questions about our admissions, visiting and testing policies and explain how we will be limiting the number of admissions to ensure the safety and well-being of our residents and families, when we open in late summer.

In advance of our opening, you can reserve a specific room and moving in date, safe in the knowledge that you can change your mind at any time.

Resident comfort and well-being

The home design has different spaces on each floor giving residents plenty of choice and more importantly different places to spend their day which increases the feeling of individuality and independence for those living here.  Residents may feel a quieter lounge with an Eastern aspect is more appealing as they enjoy early mornings, alternatively, some residents will prefer the evening sunshine.  These changes in daylight over the course of the day also help to signal the passing of time and to maintain a normal sleeping pattern.

All bedrooms have en-suite wet rooms and are of different sizes and price points.  Variations include aspects, garden rooms and outdoor seating to give residents choice, and exercise their individuality. The room schemes are highly individual with top quality co-ordinated soft furnishings and fitted furniture.

If residents wish to change the paint colour, this can be arranged before they move in. And our maintenance team are always on hand to add personal touches such as hanging a favourite picture or family photos.

Bedroom features

  • Doors to wet rooms are fitted with two-way hinges, allowing them to be opened both inwards and outwards, so that if a resident should fall inside the bathroom, the door can be opened outwards to allow help to be provided quickly and safely
  • Low level-sill heights to improve views of outdoor spaces and maximize natural daylight
  • Wall-mounted 48” flat screen smart TVs, with Freeview
  • A selection of ground floor bedrooms have mini fridges and safety deposit boxes and all bedrooms have a safe integrated into the wardrobe furniture
  • Wing-backed armchairs for enhanced back and neck support, or residents can bring their favourite chair from home
  • Top of the range nursing beds are provided for those requiring adjustable heights and profiles with colour coordinated headboards
  • Bedroom furniture includes a lockable bedside cabinet
  • Memory boxes outside every bedroom are helpful to both staff and residents. As a visual cue they help resident orientation whilst personal items prompt discussions with fellow residents and staff
  • Silent nurse call system (not audible in other bedrooms)
  • Passive Infrared Detectors installed in every bedroom to allow unobtrusive remote supervision of residents
  • Linked rooms for couples
  • Lighting over the door on entry and a pressure reactive light in the bathroom which ensures light automatically activates if resident gets up in the night.

Lounges and Dining Rooms

Join friends and families for watching, listening, talking, or resting.  The home has WiFi installed throughout.

  • Dining rooms include kitchenettes with refrigerators, kettles, ovens, and sinks, for self-service by residents, friends, and family
  • A private dining room allows friends and families to get-together for special occasions, the cinema room can also be transformed into a function room.
  • Activity rooms, Hair and Nail Salon, Cinema and Bistro are designed with residents and their visitors in mind
  • Activity rooms also have cookers installed so that residents can enjoy baking and some home cooking which is known to have therapeutic benefits
  • Open plan café bistro to entertain friends and neighbours, keeping residents connected to the wider community

Enjoying the outdoors

We wanted to cater for a wide variety of outdoor activities – not just gardening; walking and talking.  Movement, meditation, enjoyment of the sunshine and the seasons.  The garden provides focal points and seating areas where plants have been chosen for their aesthetic appeal, smell and touch addressing the sensory needs of residents and providing level access for resident and visitors.

  • Garden rooms enjoy privacy and outdoor seating for warm days and summer evenings, as well as covered spaces to provide shelter in the cooler months.
  • Wind-proof glazed terraces and balconies provide outdoor enjoyment and stunning views all year round.
  • Same level pathways with raised beds all accessible will encourage pleasant walks and gentle activity in the outdoor spaces.

Assistive Technology

  • Staff have a hand held device for computerised care planning which enables them the complete care records at the point of care deliver.  This means staff spend more time engaging and socialising with residents rather than writing up notes in paper based plans
  • There is a relative’s gateway that gives the opportunity for relatives to see the latest care plans promoting an inclusive and transparent environment
  • We have also installed a silent nurse call system available in all rooms which enhances the availability of professional support and is less distressing and does not disturb other residents.
  • All en-suite room lights automatically switch on when movement is detected minimising the risk of falls and is a guide for residents to find their way to the en-suite facilities.
  • The lights  can be individually programmed for each residents need and level of support, alerting staff if a resident leaves their room or bed/chair, allowing for unobtrusive remote supervision whilst maintaining independence and respecting the residents’ privacy and dignity.

About our care team

Care planning and surveys help us understand what matters most to residents, relatives and colleagues. Understanding and knowing our residents allows us to respond to the diverse needs, interests and abilities of those in our care, with many people supported to enrich their lives, remain active in their communities, have a voice and take an active role in their home and to continue/discover hobbies and interests.

We remain focused on the people we care for and the people we employ, recruiting colleagues who share our values.  Our care team have the right skills, experience and values to deliver outstanding care and consistently exceed residents, relatives and regulators’ requirements.

Our in-house training and development programmes are accredited by City and Guilds. We remain the only residential care provider to offer an in-house dementia training programme, ‘My World’ that is both accredited and recognised with the 2016 Princess Royal Training Award.
