Zoolab visits Oaken Holt

Oaken Holt had a therapeutic visit from Zoo Lab this week.

Animals are an important part in a lot of peoples lives whether it is a small pet like a hamster or fish to a dog or horse. Some may have only ever  had the chance to go to the zoo or a farm but either way it is always an enjoyable experience, bringing these experiences into Oaken Holt helps our residents remember these happy times.

The lounge was full of residents who all saw the exotic animals that Zoo Lab brought to show us. There were cockroaches, lizards and spiders plus a few other creepy crawlies. The ranger from Zoo Lab explained all about the animals, their habitats, feeding and life cycles. The residents enjoyed this day immensely, and as you can see Barbara was more than happy to hold a lizard!

Some of the residents that like to sit quietly on the sidelines also joined in with this activity, it really helps with their communication and you even find the quieter of the residents talking with the animal and brightening up.

We look forward to welcoming you back soon!
