Wonderful volunteers at Huntercombe Hall nursing home!

Huntercombe Hall nursing home is proud and privileged to have some lovely volunteers visit the home on a regular basis. Diana, Lorna and Vivienne are regular, dedicated gardening volunteers at the home and have been working closely with residents. The three ladies visit the home every Thursday to spend time with residents – something both staff and residents look forward to.

Diana, Lorna and Vivienne previously formed the Thrive Gardening Club in Nuffield, Henley on Thames. As kind and warmhearted people, they have been successfully supporting and encouraging Huntercombe Hall residents to take pride in their flower arranging and gardening, and residents are thoroughly enjoying spending time every Thursday afternoon doing so.

“I must say some of our residents are becoming masters in flower arranging” says Bernie Boyle, Home Manager: “We are always thrilled by our volunteer’s presence, as it encourages residents to enjoy group work, have afternoon tea together and make friends. It’s lovely to see Diana, Lorna and Vivienne every Thursday and we can’t thank them enough for taking time out of their week to visit us.”

June is a particularly special time for Huntercombe’s volunteers as the 1st – 12th June is volunteers’ week. Volunteers’ week is an annual event, taking place at the beginning of June. It celebrates the contribution made by millions of volunteers across the UK and is run by NCVO, in partnership with Volunteer Development ScotlandVolunteer Now (Northern Ireland) and Wales Council for Voluntary Action.

Huntercombe Hall provides residential, nursing and dementia care for up to 42 elderly residents. The home can be found in the charming village of Nuffield, in Henley-upon-Thames, close to the market town of Wallingford, in the beautiful surroundings of idyllic Oxfordshire. If you are interested in volunteering at the home, you can contact us by email.
