War Time Reminiscences at Hulcott

Hulcott residents recently enjoyed a War Time Reminiscence afternoon. Mary, one of our residents brought in six of her ration books which reminded all of the guests of the difficulties rationing brought during and after the war.
Mary said she had kept them in a drawer and had forgotten about them until the reminiscence session was mentioned.

Emiliya our Deputy Manager explained that in Bulgaria, her home country, rationing was also taking place although she stressed she was only a small child at the time and couldn’t remember shopping with them.

The ration book prompted lots of war time stories from our residents and they all enjoyed discussing what it was like during the war, their memories and shared experiences.

It proved so popular we are looking forward to holding many more reminiscence themed activity sessions.
