‘The Queen’ makes a surprise birthday visit to Walstead Place

Residents at Walstead Place had a surprise royal visitor this week. ‘Her Majesty, The Queen’ chose to spend tea time here, to the delight of all.

They were all thrilled with her appearance and were delighted when she took the time to chat with them and have her photo taken. It was a really enjoyable event and made this day very special for them as many of them can remember growing up watching the Queen. It brought back many happy memories and created some new ones too.

Dressed in a spring outfit of red dress and cream jacket with matching hat plus, of course, a tiara and long white gloves, Activities Coordinator Doreen Knight wowed the assembled company with her graciousness as ‘Queen for the day’.

Jacquie Ferguson, Home Manager said:

“It was a very special occasion – everyone was thrilled with The Queen’s appearance. The card mask is extraordinary and Doreen really got into her part. The activity team regularly goes beyond their role to ensure our residents feel part of the bigger picture on events happening in the wider world. As this was such a special day, we could not let this historic event pass by without getting involved.”
