A Walk in the Park for Galsworthy House

A popular event for the residents at Galsworthy House is a walk in Richmond Park which our home overlooks, so when our resident Ursula’s daughter approached Sue, our Activity Organiser with some dates that she could accompany her mother, Sue asked other residents and their families if they would like to join them and accompany their own family members.

We were delighted when 14 people were able to come and join us. Sue, ever the organiser and practical minded as ever, suggested that weather permitting we could take a picnic to the park but if the weather was against us, we could hold the picnic in the conservatory. On the 9th October at about 11.15am our residents, families and friends all set off.

The party included Alistair, Beverly, Paul, Dorothy, Ursula, Philippa, Harry and Julian, Sue and Diana. A former resident Mike was welcomed back when he joined us with his wife Bernadette.

We walked on the South East side of the park with our group chatting and enjoying the peace, local wildlife and natural sounds of the birdsong. We also spotted a squirrel going about his autumn tasks.

We were lucky with the weather which was slightly overcast but nevertheless we all agreed it was nice to be out in the fresh air.

Whilst on our walk, two riders on horseback came past saying hello and later on they came across to us on their lovely black and white horses. They stopped to have a chat with us which was an added bonus and lovely to see such beautiful animals up close.

We then made our way back home as earlier in the day we had all decided that the weather was just a little too cold to have our picnic outside. When we returned to Galsworthy House we made our way to the conservatory for our picnic, with a selection of food and a glass of wine for those that wanted it.

Everyone enjoyed the trip out in the fresh air and we look forward to our next trip to the park, which weather permitting will be later this month.

Coronavirus (COVID-19) Update
To Whom it may concern,

RE: A message from the CEO and Clinical Director

At Caring Homes we are following the latest Government advice and stopping visitors to all our homes, except for essential visits by healthcare professionals who will be required to adhere to strict protocols.

We understand that this may be very difficult for families but we are clear in our duty to ensure we protect the health, safety and wellbeing of our Residents and Colleagues as our top priority.

We want you to know that you can contact your loved ones through calls, emails, video and social media and we will support our Residents to view any messages you send over. We are confident that the teams in our homes are doing all they can to ensure that life remains as comfortable and sociable as possible. There will be a full programme of activities delivered by our in-house health and wellbeing teams.

We hope you will understand and support these actions and any further subsequent measures we might need to put in place.

Yours sincerely
