Visit to Ferfoot Care Home by the 27th Regiment RLC

Ferfoot Care Home in Chippenham, Wiltshire were delighted to welcome four soldiers from the 27th Regiment RLC when they visited on Wednesday 11th October to speak to our residents who had served in the armed forces.

The soldiers took a break from their regular duties to pay a visit to our home and was held to support the veterans’ community. Our resident veterans were very pleased to welcome members who were currently serving and could swap stories about their different experiences. It brought back so many memories for them.

We were even more pleased when they brought a lovely cake with them and presented vouchers for £60 in their uniforms to our Activities Fund which we put towards items for activities and events we hold within our home.

Nicki Stone, Home Manager, commented

“The visit was greatly appreciated by our residents, as well as the soldiers as it provided them an opportunity to trade stories as well as learn from each other.”

27 Regiment RLC is currently based in Travers Barracks, Aldershot and is part of 101 Logistic Brigade. It consists of 77 Headquarters Squadron, 8 Fuel Squadron, 91 Supply Squadron based in Hullavington and 19 Tank Transporter Squadron based in Bulford.

Corporal Suen Simpson wrote the following in our comments book

“Special thanks to Nicki, Sarah and the rest of the staff.  A warm and friendly atmosphere where residents are treated in a caring and professional manner. Really great hosts.”

Coronavirus (COVID-19) Update
To Whom it may concern,

RE: A message from the CEO and Clinical Director

At Caring Homes we are following the latest Government advice and stopping visitors to all our homes, except for essential visits by healthcare professionals who will be required to adhere to strict protocols.

We understand that this may be very difficult for families but we are clear in our duty to ensure we protect the health, safety and wellbeing of our Residents and Colleagues as our top priority.

We want you to know that you can contact your loved ones through calls, emails, video and social media and we will support our Residents to view any messages you send over. We are confident that the teams in our homes are doing all they can to ensure that life remains as comfortable and sociable as possible. There will be a full programme of activities delivered by our in-house health and wellbeing teams.

We hope you will understand and support these actions and any further subsequent measures we might need to put in place.

Yours sincerely
