Tom finally tucks into ‘proper toast’

Despite enjoying the idyllic surroundings of the West Sussex coast, for one resident of Rectory House, some things will never taste quite like home.

According to Tom Duff (pictured), originally from Glasgow, it is very difficult to buy plain bread in Sussex and Tom recently claimed that he has not had ‘proper toast and butter’ for the many years that he has been living in the area.

Finding herself on a recent trip to Scotland, Regional Director Alison Lovelock decided to take it upon herself to surprise Tom and at the end of her trip, headed south on the plane with her suitcase in one hand and a loaf of Tom’s favourite bread in the other.

The small slice of Scotland made Tom’s day and he savoured every mouthful as he relived memories of his days in Glasgow.

Situated in the village of Sompting, Rectory House provides residential and nursing support for up to 41 people.
