The only way is Essex

Residents from Bradbury House in Braintree have been taking advantage of the recent spell of bright weather to get out and explore the sights and sounds that Essex has to offer.

Two such trips this month took them to the historic Braintree Museum and the beautiful Marks Hall Country Park.

According to the Braintree Museum website:
‘Braintree Museum traces its origins to a Museum room in the Town Hall that opened in 1928 to display the collections of Alfred Hills, a local clerk and historian and the Courtauld family. After a succession of different homes, today’s Museum opened in the former Manor Street School on 6th October 1993. Since then the collections expanded from boundaries of Braintree and Bocking to the whole of the District of Braintree. Current collecting strengths include: archaeology, ceramics, local history, photographs and textiles.’

The residents had said that they would love to visit both of these fascinating attractions; they particularly enjoyed the museum exhibition relating to local war heroes.

The trip to Marks Hall Country Park offered something for everyone in the group. There was a relaxing long walk for those after a touch of tranquility, some fantastic wildlife and some stunning scenes for the budding artists in the group, who took photographs in order to capture it in watercolour back at Bradbury House.

Everyone enjoyed the day; with one new resident commenting it was wonderful as they hadn’t been out for years prior to moving to Bradbury House.

Located in the heart of the historic town of Braintree, Bradbury House enjoys an enviable reputation for delivering the very highest standard of residential care in a homely and friendly environment for up to 21 elderly people. The home dates in part from the 17th century and, following a comprehensive and sympathetic conversion, retains many original features whilst also providing an outstanding residential care setting.
