A group of Guysfield Care Home
residents joined St Christopher school for an afternoon full of fun, laughter, and not forgetting tea and mince pies! From the arrival we received a very warm welcome from the staff and children. Everyone was offered tea, coffee , cakes . We all pulled crackers, party poppers, told silly jokes and wore fancy hats. The show began with the youngest children who performed the soundtrack from the musical Oliver Twist “food, glorious food “, instantly our residents joined in with the singing ! Followed by another group of children, who played a range of string instruments, including the violin and cello. This specific performance brought tears to some of our eyes. Then it was time for the favourite songs from the musical Grease. To finish off the amazing afternoon, children, the community and our residents sang well known Christmas carols.
Everyone was saying how happy they were to be a part of the show. It was lovely to see everyone engaging. Once we got home, one of the gentlemen was still emotional and shared his experience with the staff and his family. The other resident told me “how wonderful, it brought back so many memories, absolutely loved it “
