Spreading a little rainbow of happiness

9th April 2020

Whittington House Nursing Home's couple Gerald and Evelyn have been busy colouring rainbows this week as part of a national initiative to spread positivity and hope during the current coronavirus outbreak.

Jenny Spencer, Lead Health and Wellbeing Co-ordinator at the Cheltenham home, explained; “The rainbows came about from a national campaign where children have started putting rainbows in their windows at home just to cheer people up.

“It was just a lovely idea and we wanted to do something similar here at Whittington House. The rainbow is a symbol of hope and positivity. You can't have a rainbow without the rain.

“So, our residents and staff have been colouring them in and, as part of a scheme to share the love and support for staff and residents in care homes in Gloucestershire, we are all going into the garden and holding up our rainbows and singing 'Somewhere over the Rainbow' together.”

Whittington House Nursing Home in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire is a modern, purpose-built home and provides residential, nursing and specialist dementia care for up to 66 people.
