Scottish homes scoop hat-trick of awards

November proved a successful month for a number of our Scottish homes, as they scooped no less than three accolades at the recent Scottish Care Awards.

All of the finalists from Beechwood, Marchglen and Forth Bay took the top spot in their respective categories as the night served to celebrate some of the finest care professionals from across Scotland.

The popular Beechwood activites team of Fiona Lancaster and Laura Muirhead scooped the ‘Meaningful Activity Award’ for their innovative approach to activity provision and the commitment they show to ensuring activities they provide are personalised towards the residents they work with.

Then it was Forth Bay’s turn to celebrate as Manager Alison Graham’s 37 years of service to the profession were recognised with the ‘Lifetime Achievement Award.’ Scottish Care Chief Executive Ranald Mair paid tribute to Alison’s significant and sustained contribution to the care sector:

‘The care home sector relies heavily on dedicated professionals who are prepared to devote their lives to the care of others. Alison embodies these attributes as well as many other qualities we aspire to in the delivery of care: she is a dedicated nursing professional and an effective manager and leader.’

Last, but certainly not least, it was the turn of Marchglen resident Elaine Corsie to take the plaudits, as she was presented with the ‘Resident Achievement Award.’

Elaine has been living with Multiple Sclerosis since 1987 and won the award following the inspirational art auction she hosted in aid of the MS Society earlier this year. She raised over £1,100 for the valuable charity by auctioning off her own artwork, including some detailed paintings of famous landmarks and a portrait of Sir Sean Connery.

All three were worthy winners and Caring Homes is proud to see such proactive and committed work going on across the group.
