Scoonie House Receives Care & Support Awards

Katrina O’Donnell, a Social Care Worker, and Julie Thompson Laundry Assistant at Scoonie House care home in Leven, have been named runners-up in the Care & Support Award and Support Service Award respectively in Caring Homes’ Scottish Recognition Awards.

Presented at a ceremony recently, the awards recognise and celebrate excellence amongst the care group’s seven Scottish homes.

Katrina was nominated for the award because of her exemplary skills and dedication which recognise the responsibility and rewards that come with caring for others. Julie’s nomination stems from her significant contribution to the overall care provision within Scoonie House. Situated on Windygates Road, the home provides residential care for up to 36 elderly people.

Melanie MacDonald, Home Manager at Scoonie House, said: “Katrina is a key member of the team who shows a strong commitment to her work, developing herself and others around her.  She puts 100% into her job.

“Equally, Julie was nominated by two of her colleagues as the ‘unsung hero’ of Scoonie as a hardworking and valued member of the team who ensures all the residents are presented as well as possible, every day.”

In addition, two members of the care team at Scoonie House were presented with long-service awards and vouchers for their contribution towards the success of the home. They are: Home Manager Melanie MacDonald, 18 years; and Laundry Assistant Julie Thompson, 15 years.
