Residents successfully relocated after fire

Forth Bay Care Home experienced a significant fire in August which led to the full evacuation of all residents and colleagues. We are very pleased to confirm that everyone was safely evacuated.

Our residents were all quickly settled into alternative accommodation and we are delighted to report that 27 residents have now moved into the Scottish Miners Convalescent Trust accommodation at Blair Castle, just outside Culross.

This move brings both residents, relatives and colleagues back closer to Forth Bay, and no longer facing a long commute. We are extremely grateful to the Scottish Miners Convalescent Trust for making Blair Castle available to us.

A further 17 residents are living at Glenbervie Care Home in Larbert. The health and wellbeing of our residents is always our priority and Caring Homes colleagues have moved with them to their new homes.

The health and wellbeing of our residents is always our priority and Caring Homes colleagues have moved with them to their new homes. We continue to work in the best interests of all residents whilst we provide continuity of care and rebuild all care plans.

We are fully committed to re-instating Forth Bay and a project team is working to organise this. Sadly, parts of the building are beyond repair and will be rebuilt. Other parts of the home will be repaired and refurbished before reopening and we will keep residents and relatives up to date with timescales for all works as soon as they are confirmed.

We would like to sincerely thank our dedicated teams for their brilliant work since the fire in ensuring all our residents continue to get the best care possible. We are extremely proud of their continued professionalism, support and dedication in providing the continuity of care valued by Caring Homes and its residents.

We are overwhelmed and thankful for the continued support shown by our local community since the fire and our team have been out delivering messages of thanks personally to businesses and individuals who have helped us.

Coronavirus (COVID-19) Update
To Whom it may concern,

RE: A message from the CEO and Clinical Director

At Caring Homes we are following the latest Government advice and stopping visitors to all our homes, except for essential visits by healthcare professionals who will be required to adhere to strict protocols.

We understand that this may be very difficult for families but we are clear in our duty to ensure we protect the health, safety and wellbeing of our Residents and Colleagues as our top priority.

We want you to know that you can contact your loved ones through calls, emails, video and social media and we will support our Residents to view any messages you send over. We are confident that the teams in our homes are doing all they can to ensure that life remains as comfortable and sociable as possible. There will be a full programme of activities delivered by our in-house health and wellbeing teams.

We hope you will understand and support these actions and any further subsequent measures we might need to put in place.

Yours sincerely
