Reminiscing at St Georges

Another great morning at St Georges care home when we held our regular reminiscence session here at our home in Bristol. We had lots of fun with quizzes and remembering times back in the day which sparks lots of animated conversation and memories for our residents.

‘What’s in the box’ is brilliant too. A surprise item is provided by our team and residents to talk about and we never know what it will be.

These sessions have proved very popular with our residents since their introduction and it’s such a great activity. We can use anything such as photographs, music, films, television programmes and even food to inspire our recollections of a particular aspect of life. It’s great for our residents to share memories and enjoy a chat over tea or coffee.

These sessions can really provide bonding opportunities for all participants too. Our team have commented they learn so much about our residents which helps us to tailor our activities to their likes and preferences. Our residents also get to discover more about our team when they share their experiences and memories too.

We end our reminiscing session with a lovely sing-a-long with some old favourites which gets everyone joining in and our home rings out with the sound of music.

St Georges is a modern, purpose-built care home in Bristol. Located in a quiet residential area three miles from the city centre, St Georges provides specialist nursing care for up to 67 people.

Coronavirus (COVID-19) Update
To Whom it may concern,

RE: A message from the CEO and Clinical Director

At Caring Homes we are following the latest Government advice and stopping visitors to all our homes, except for essential visits by healthcare professionals who will be required to adhere to strict protocols.

We understand that this may be very difficult for families but we are clear in our duty to ensure we protect the health, safety and wellbeing of our Residents and Colleagues as our top priority.

We want you to know that you can contact your loved ones through calls, emails, video and social media and we will support our Residents to view any messages you send over. We are confident that the teams in our homes are doing all they can to ensure that life remains as comfortable and sociable as possible. There will be a full programme of activities delivered by our in-house health and wellbeing teams.

We hope you will understand and support these actions and any further subsequent measures we might need to put in place.

Yours sincerely
