Pancake Day fun at East Hill House

East Hill House was filled with excitement last week at a pancake tossing competition. The residents were all invited to have a go and many revealed their culinary talents alongside a hidden competitive streak!

All of the contestants but in a great effort to win the challenge, and the staff were amazed at how many flips each person could do. In third place with 17 flips was Rose Merritt and a close second went to Graham Evans with 30. First place, however, went to Eric Martin for a legendary 33 tosses. Eric said he ‘could of continued, but had to stop as he was getting an achy wrist’.

The staff also took part in a pancake race, running against each other whilst flipping pancakes in a frying pan. Onlookers laughed at the unsportsmanlike tactics, but everyone agreed that Gemma won and fair and square in the end.

After the contest, everyone enjoyed eating a traditional pancake supper, with an array of filling options, including classic choices like lemon and sugar to more alternative options, like bacon and cheese.

Located in the Hampshire village of Liss, East Hill House provides high quality residential and specialist dementia care for up to 35 elderly people in a unique setting.
