On Christmas Day, On Christmas Day

For our first Christmas in Ivy Court, we decided to keep it a little simple. We put together two large lunch tables for residents and relatives alike to eat, drink and be merry together. The chef came down and carved the meat for all to see, and the care team helped serve everyone their lunches with their Christmas hats on, whilst ensuring their glasses were topped up.

After lunch, residents and their families retired to the relevant units, for a chance to sit and play games together and reminisce about the ghosts of Christmas past. We organised a variety of traditional Christmas beverages on a trolley, which made its way around the home offering room service along the way, as the drinks went down the laughter went up.

Finally the sound of reindeers could be heard and all of a sudden Santa Clause appeared at the home with his bell ringing and sacks full of goodies. Each resident had three little presents from Santa, consisting of a main present, a box of chocolates, and a sensory mitten donated from the local N&N team. On his way around the building, Santa was warmly welcomed with handshakes, hugs and kisses. Roll on the planning for next Christmas!
