Oaken Holt – Welcoming our new Home Manager
I wanted to take this opportunity to introduce you to our new Home Manager at Oaken Holt, Bernie Allan.
We are delighted that Bernie has joined the care team and very proud to welcome someone with such a wealth of experience, and who has made an amazing difference to care in England.
Bernie has over 35 years’ experience working in care. In this time he has worked in many roles, from general nurse, mental health nurse and psychiatric therapist, to Head of Mental Health and Community Services in East Sussex.
In 2000, Bernie was appointed the Lord Chancellor’s Visitor, visiting people, who for a variety of reasons, lack the mental capacity to manage their own affairs, and reporting to the Court on their needs, wishes and best interests. In addition, Bernie played a leading role in setting up England’s first ever specialist dementia unit, as well as the country’s first specialist mental health centre, both of which had a huge impact on raising the standard of care across the UK.
This lifetime commitment to care is very much evident in everything Bernie does. He is passionate about delivering high standards, providing tailored care for residents and leading staff in developing and building on their skills.
As well as our residents and staff at Oaken Holt, Bernie is very much looking forward to getting to know relatives and loved ones. He is keen to ensure families play an active role in planning care for their loved one.
If you have not yet had the opportunity to meet Bernie, please do give him a call on 01865 865 252.
