Oaken Holt residents brave the conditions to take to the water

A group of residents from Oaken Holt Care Home in Farmoor enjoyed a day out on the narrow boat ‘Venturer’, a purpose-built 70 foot long steel narrow boat with wheelchair access that sails along the Oxford Canal and River Thames.

Despite being June, the group were forced to wrap up and brave the elements. Wind and rain could not dampen the spirits however, as they boarded the vessel ready to set off around the mini-ring of the Oxford Canal and the Thames.

Despite the inclement conditions, everyone enjoyed a picnic lunch aboard, prepared by the home’s Head Chef Simon and his team. The trip was a huge success facilitated by the specially adapted narrowboat and the Venturer’s friendly skipper.

Set within 23 acres of beautiful gardens and parklands in the heart of Oxfordshire, Oaken Holt is a magnificent country estate in the peaceful village of Farmoor offering residential and nursing care of the very highest standard for up to 55 discerning ladies and gentlemen.
