Oaken Holt enjoy trip to Ashmolean Museum

Oaken Holt care home in Farmoor, Oxfordshire residents, recently enjoyed a trip to the Ashmolean Museum in Oxford.

With much anticipation and lots of animated discussion on the day, they travelled on our mini bus through the lovely streets of Oxford and arrived at the museum eagerly looking forward to what they would see.

On arrival, the residents agreed the building was very impressive and they all really enjoyed looking at all the exhibits and spent a couple of hours looking at the many treasures the museum has to offer.

The University of Oxford is proud of the Ashmolean Museum, it houses artefacts from both art and archaeology. The museum was founded in 1683 and had world famous collections including Egyptian mummies. They have artwork from Raphael and sculptures and ceramics from the Minoan period.

The residents then sat in a small courtyard and enjoyed a delicious picnic that had been provided by our chefs back at Oaken Holt and discussed their favourite exhibits, the new facts they learnt and what a great trip out it had been. We then all enjoyed a leisurely ride back to Oaken Holt admiring the beautiful scenery on the way.

Set within 23 acres of beautiful gardens and parklands in the heart of rural Oxfordshire, Oaken Holt is a magnificent country estate offering residential and nursing care of the very highest standard.

Coronavirus (COVID-19) Update
To Whom it may concern,

RE: A message from the CEO and Clinical Director

At Caring Homes we are following the latest Government advice and stopping visitors to all our homes, except for essential visits by healthcare professionals who will be required to adhere to strict protocols.

We understand that this may be very difficult for families but we are clear in our duty to ensure we protect the health, safety and wellbeing of our Residents and Colleagues as our top priority.

We want you to know that you can contact your loved ones through calls, emails, video and social media and we will support our Residents to view any messages you send over. We are confident that the teams in our homes are doing all they can to ensure that life remains as comfortable and sociable as possible. There will be a full programme of activities delivered by our in-house health and wellbeing teams.

We hope you will understand and support these actions and any further subsequent measures we might need to put in place.

Yours sincerely
