Not your cup of tea? Tea Tasting at Whittington

The residents at Whittington House in Cheltenham were invited to a new taste sensation as their taste buds were tantalised by trying teas from around the world.

The residents and their visitors all took to their seats in anticipation for the new activity. Everyone took a sip of each of the different teas, there were some funny faces being pulled at some of the flavours. During the tasting we asked the residents to describe what aroma and taste they were getting from the teas. This then led into a reminiscence of their travels and the cultures of the countries the teas represented. These activities are not only good for socialising with others and stimulating their senses; it also promotes and encourages hydration.

Everyone voted and it was unanimous that the least favourite tea flavour was Smoky Lapsang and Earl Grey, a little more traditional of them all, was the clear winner followed by Chai Cardamom.

A lovely afternoon was had by all and Whittington House will be sure to stock up on their favourites!  Once resident said, “This was a different and very enjoyable activity to do with my husband and we are both looking forward to the cheese and wine tasting!”

Whittington House Nursing Home in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire is a modern, purpose-built home and provides residential, nursing and specialist dementia care for up to 66 people.
