New entertainer at Strathview

The residents and staff at Strathview in Fife were recently entertained by Theresa who is a new singer to the home.

Theresa had a great voice and with the help of staff managed to really engage the residents. She soon had them up dancing and singing along, everyone had great fun as you can see from the photos.

Tommy, one of our residents, loves music and getting involved when there are musicians in the home. His family bought him a drum last year which is normally in his room, but comes out for him to join in with the musicians – as you can see from the photos he really got into the swing of things. He had us all impressed especially with the twirling of the sticks in between the notes!

Entertainment in the form of music which envelopes singing an dancing is great for everyone with so many benefits to the residents. Not only does it promote a form of fitness and social interaction by getting the residents together with each other, family, friends and the care team, but this helps improve general mood, self esteem and even relaxing. For Tommy he gets a tremendous amount of self expression, and those that use the poms poms, other instruments and dance do as well.

We look forward to welcoming you back again soon.

Coronavirus (COVID-19) Update
To Whom it may concern,

RE: A message from the CEO and Clinical Director

At Caring Homes we are following the latest Government advice and stopping visitors to all our homes, except for essential visits by healthcare professionals who will be required to adhere to strict protocols.

We understand that this may be very difficult for families but we are clear in our duty to ensure we protect the health, safety and wellbeing of our Residents and Colleagues as our top priority.

We want you to know that you can contact your loved ones through calls, emails, video and social media and we will support our Residents to view any messages you send over. We are confident that the teams in our homes are doing all they can to ensure that life remains as comfortable and sociable as possible. There will be a full programme of activities delivered by our in-house health and wellbeing teams.

We hope you will understand and support these actions and any further subsequent measures we might need to put in place.

Yours sincerely
