Mr Kipling visits Knowle Park

At Knowle Park care home in Cranleigh, Surrey we had a rather unusual visitor to our home when Mr Kipling, a miniature donkey arrived much to the delight of our residents.

Mr Kipling is a regular visitor to care homes in and around Surrey and is part of the miniature therapy horse team from Pony Pals.

With much anticipation, our residents and team eagerly welcomed him into our home where he received lots of attention and petting. Our animal loving residents were thrilled to get up close and personal and he even won over those residents, who although they say they are not animal lovers, couldn’t resist him either…

He visited some of our residents in our lounge before embarking on a tour of Knowle Park so all our residents, even those who are less mobile were able to give him a pat. For those who remained in their rooms and/or beds, Mr Kipling is trained to rest his head gently over the bedside to be groomed, petted or just to have a hand resting on his muzzle. He really enjoys the human contact and you can see the feeling of calm and joy our residents get from this gentle contact.

We’re not sure who enjoyed the visit more, Mr Kipling or our residents but we know he’s sure to be back judging from the response and the great comments we received.

At Knowle Park care home in Cranleigh, Surrey we provide excellent residential, dementia and nursing care for up to 46 elderly people.
