Moorlands host Queen’s Birthday Celebrations Street Party

Residents and guests of Moorlands Nursing Home celebrated the Queen’s 90th birthday this week with a Right Royal Street Party!

Due to the typically British weather we had to bring the party inside but that didn’t spoil our fun.  The chef was prepared with her hot trolley to serve up the barbequed goodies and the home was decorated throughout in red white and blue.

Residents, their families and our team enjoyed a lovely barbeque to a back drop of familiar anthems –  God save the Queen, Royal Britannia, Land of Hope and Glory – to name but a few which brought back lots of memories for everyone.

The event was topped off by a visit by the newly appointed Mayor and his wife – Councillor John and Di Winterton – who mingled with the residents and enjoyed the festivities with us.

We also had a tombola to raise money for our residents fund, where ‘everyone was a winner!’ Even our Manager Tracey Jepson took part and won some regal toilet paper, pictured below.

Tracey Jepson, pictured with the Mayor,

“It was so great to see the home transformed into a sea of red, white and blue – it was a great event; one which everyone really enjoyed and we were not going to let the bad weather stop us from celebrating this majestic occasion.”
