Mayor Visits Southlands Place

The Mayor of Bexhill, Cllr Maurice Watson, visited Southlands Place care home on Hastings Road, Bexhill on Saturday and was invited to plant a rose bush in the landscaped garden. During his visit, the Mayor was given a tour of the newly-built property and observed the blessing of the home by David Bishop, the Pastor from Sidley Baptist Church.

Southlands Place has been built by Caring Homes on the site of the former Southlands Court Care Home (previously Southlands Court Hotel) and opens its doors to residents on 4th February 2016. The open weekend on 30-31st January stirred up lots of interest, with more than 60 neighbours and local people visiting to take a look around.

The care home offers high quality residential, nursing and dementia care tailored to meet the individual needs of up to 72 residents. The home boasts en-suite bedrooms, a cinema room, Little Acorns Cafe, a relaxing therapy room and two hairdressing salons as well as a private dining room, several smaller lounges and kitchen areas for residents’ own use.

Brigid Sedour, Home Manager of Southlands Place, said: “We are delighted to be able to welcome the Mayor and show him how this site has been transformed into a modern-day care home. We are also pleased to be able to bless the home, as we do all new Caring Homes care homes.”

“Many of our staff have been recruited from the local area, and the first of our new residents will be joining us this week. We can’t wait for them to arrive.”
