Marchglen’s Jean goes the extra mile for Children in Need

Marchglen resident Jean Thomson braved the Alloa elements this week to cross the Clackmannanshire Bridge in aid of Children in Need.

When Jean said the challenge was something she’d always wanted to do at a recent residents’ meeting, she may not have thought she would be taking it on quite so soon!

Former School Headmistress Jean was thrilled to raise over £200 in all for the BBC charity thanks to the generosity of her family, friends and fellow residents at the Fishcross home. She also had plenty of support from passing motorists as she made the 1.2km journey across the Forth with her husband Alistair, Care Worker Anne Franklin and Occupational Therapist Scott Bamford.

Marchglen Care Home is an innovative collection of four houses providing a range of specialist care and forming a unique community on the outskirts of Fishcross. The state of the art facility supports up to 36 people including those with learning disabilities, physical disabilities and acquired brain injuries.
