Marchglen residents go ‘behind the scenes’ at BBC Scotland

Two residents from the Marchglen Care Centre in Alloa recently had the privilege to take an exciting behind the scenes tour of the BBC Scotland studios.

The small group were lucky enough to experience a free tour of the extensive building, built in 2007. The tour lasted just over an hour and the group were escorted around all aspects of the studios including the newsroom, production desk, sound studios the green room and even the dressing rooms.

The group were also shown the large main studio which holds up to 270 audience members, and where they about to start filming the hit sitcom “Mrs Browns Boys”.

After the tour the residents had the chance to record their very own radio play with added sound effects using the professional equipment. They even got to keep a copy to remind them of their fifteen minutes of fame.

Along with this the group also had the opportunity to take plenty of photographs of the iconic parts of the studio. The day was finished off with lunch in the studio cafe.

The residents greatly enjoyed their day at BBC Scotland and both said they had a brilliant time (despite not spotting any celebrities!)
