Joan’s still a ‘glamour girl’ at 90

Joan Brett-Pitt has been living at Bradbury House for three years and in that time, she has always been the epitome of glamour and poise.

Staff at the Braintree home could therefore think of no better way to mark her 90th birthday than to celebrate the milestone with a day of glamour in her honour.

The home was decorated with balloons and flowers and Joan’s big day began by having her hair and make-up professionally done, a manicure and a specially prepared lunch with her sister. More of Joan’s family and friends joined her for the afternoon as she was serenaded not once, but twice in the day. Firstly, a dashing uniform-adorned gentleman brought her love of wartime clothes and theatre to life, before a young local violinist performed and sang for Joan, which brought a tear to everyone’s eye. Delicious tea and cake was put on to finish the day, with Joan being given her present from the home, a beautiful set of Estee Lauder make-up.

Located in the heart of the historic town of Braintree, Bradbury House enjoys an enviable reputation for delivering the very highest standard of residential care in a homely environment for up to 21 elderly people.
