Jim is a charity champion

East Hill House Gardener Jim Woodcock swapped his secateurs for sweatbands recently as he took on a ten-mile run in aid of Motor Neurone Disease (MND)

There are 5,000 people living with MND in the UK. The disease kills five people in the UK every day and can affect any adult at any age. There is no treatment or cure for MND and the charity relies on voluntary donations to help those who suffer and to promote research.

This was Jim’s first run for charity and he was delighted to complete the ten miles in a very respectable 1 hour 55 minutes, to raise £325 for the worthwhile cause. Everyone at East Hill House was very proud of the effort and the substantial amount of money.

East Hill House provides residential and specialist dementia care for up to 35 elderly people in a unique setting. In addition to the main home there are seven cottages and two apartments, all arranged around a central lawn, creating a wonderful Village Green location.

Residents of the cottages and apartments, whilst maintaining a more independent lifestyle, are also able to make use of the many communal facilities at East Hill House as and when needed. These include a wide range of communal activities, a hairdressing suite and dining of a standard normally associated with the finest hotels.
